Fridge of Wonders

Custom Squarespace Website Design for an Artisan Food Brand on Pender Island

Fridge of Wonders is a vibrant artisan food brand based on Pender Island, creating handcrafted ferments, condiments, and flavour-driven products that celebrate health, colour, and joy.

The goal of this project was to create a website that felt as alive as Patricia’s products themselves.

Rather than simply displaying jars and bottles, the design approach focused on translating the energy of flavour into a digital experience. Drawing directly from the product label system, the site uses bold iconography, rich colour, playful shapes, and custom bottle-inspired visual elements to create a bright, memorable browsing experience.

A major design principle throughout the build was to make the site feel tactile, almost as if the visitor were holding one of the Fridge of Wonders bottles in their hand. This thinking influenced everything from section shapes and custom buttons to page flow, spacing, and product presentation.

Built on Squarespace, this project pushed customisation further than any previous build, becoming the most CSS-heavy site in my portfolio to date. Extensive custom styling was used to create branded interactions, unique CTA treatments, product layouts, animated details, and a warm visual rhythm that reflects the spirit of Pender Island and the freshness of the brand.

The result is a site that feels bright, healthy, handcrafted, and unmistakably full of life.
